Active Schools
The East Dunbartonshire Active Schools team is part of a dedicated national network. Our aim is to improve sporting opportunities for children and young people.
Introduction
Our Active Schools Coordinators (ASCs) work in partnership with local schools and the wider community to:
- Provide better opportunities for children and young people to take part in sport. And do this more often, including before and after school, and during lunchtime.
- Recruit and support volunteers so we can deliver more sessions in schools.
- Develop effective links between schools and sports clubs in the local community. This is to encourage lifelong participation.
- Motivate and inspire young people to participate in sport.
- Offer inclusive opportunities so every child can enjoy the benefits of physical activity.
